Teens engage in a comprehensive strategic grantmaking process while learning what it means to serve on a community board of directors. Teens learn decision making theory and then begin to make collective decisions that include identifying values to inform their grantmaking, identifying an annual focus area, identifying potential grantees and selecting which proposals to fund.
The Center for Jewish Philanthropy’s Youth Board mission is to further engage teens in philanthropy, advocacy, leadership, and service learning. Teens are entrusted with thousands of dollars annually to engage in collective strategic grantmaking.
Program Dates: Annually, August – May
Schedule: Typically Sundays from 1-3 PM, once a month
Location: preference is in person, but zoom is an option for when board members are unable to attend in person.
Cost: A $200 contribution is requested, not required
Age Range: 7th Grade to 12th Grade
