In Module 1, students complete a digital, self-paced civics learning experience through the Civics Matters Learning Hub. The module introduces the core foundations that make democratic communities work, including using your voice, participating in decisions, understanding your rights, practicing your responsibilities, and recognizing how representation connects people to government.
Students engage with curated digital resources such as short videos, readings, and interactive civic scenarios. Throughout the module, students respond to guided reflection questions that encourage them to think about how civic participation impacts their own communities.
The module is designed to be interactive and reflective. Students explore how civic knowledge, civic skills, and civic responsibility work together in everyday life, and they consider how young people can meaningfully contribute to building a stronger and more inclusive democracy. Modules can be completed independently or incorporated into classroom instruction.
