The Civics Matters Leadership Challenge encourages high school students to explore how young people can meaningfully participate in civic life and apply democratic principles to real-world challenges.
Through civic learning, reflection, and project-based engagement, students develop a deeper understanding of how individuals influence communities, institutions, and public decision-making. The program aims to strengthen civic knowledge, civic voice, and civic leadership among young people across Arizona.
The Washington, D.C. experience serves as the culminating opportunity for selected student delegates. The trip allows students to deepen their understanding of democratic institutions, connect with civic leaders, and experience the role of civic participation firsthand.
