Mission and goals: Teach about different world governments and what it means to be a good world citizen.
Scouts who earn the Citizenship in the World merit badge will discover that they are already a citizen of the world. How good a citizen each person is depends on his willingness to understand and appreciate the values, traditions, and concerns of people in other countries.
They will actively complete requirements that teach

U.S. citizenship: process, rights, duties, obligations
Comparing U.S. citizen rights with two other countries
National interest impacts security, economy, values
How Geography, resources, climate shape a country’s economy
International law vs. national law, conflict resolution
Global trade: cooperation, tariffs, free trade importance
Roles of United Nations, UNICEF in world
Constitutional vs. nonconstitutional government differences
Government representation in foreign relations
5 different types of national governments in practice today.
