Program mission and goals: To inform youth of their rights and responsibilities, encourage them to learn more about American government, foster a passion for civic engagement, develop skills (research, public speaking, supporting a stance with data), empowering youth with knowledge.
Program Summary: Learning about American government, interacting with peers to discuss current and historical events and their impact on the community and laws, researching questions and developing a statement to address the question with supporting documents, and participant in a simulated congressional hearing.
Start Date: August 2026
End Date: May 2027
Schedule: Fellowship participants must meet a monthly cohort training from August – May. In addition, they’ll need to attend a weekly 1:1 coaching meeting with an Aliento team member.
